Belagavi, july 09 – A Eco friendly “Clay idol Maker” Maruthi Jothiba Kumbar opined total Ban of Plaster of paris (POP) Ganesha idols in the district and entire the country.
Artist Kumbar said , Plaster of paris (POP) idols dander to the environment, Belagavi district administration and The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has banned Ganesha idols made of plaster of Paris (PoP) and painted with chemically loaded colors.
every one artist should be follow the government order and help to protect the environment, he said.
Kumbar said, Our family begins this work decades ago, I was started this work from 1952, he said.
My intention our next generation also continue the idol making work and save the tradition and culture, because this is god’s work, He said.
We started idol making work since two months, more than Ten expert artists working with me, we prepare only Five Hundred idols up to One feet to Ten feet height, the price will be start from 1100 (1 feet) to Fifty thousand ( 10 feet height) rupees. Already booking started, He said.
We making only Clay idols, this is very difficult because of Labour, suitable mud (soil), transportation and place problem, we bring the suitable and quality Mud (soil) from Kanapur.
, we adjusted the place for Rent basis, we need around Two lack rupees rent for private land owners for place. This is very big burden, he said.
Mr. Kumbar said, Belagavi Ganesha idol artists ready to provide sufficient Eco friendly Clay idols to the devotees, but we facing sufficient place problem, we appealed to the government and district administration to provide open places or Belagavi City Corporation complexes MT places. We ready to minimum rent to them, he said.
Some of Ganesha idol dealers bring the POP idols from border area on during period of Ganesha festival and sale here with cheap rate, many devotees ready to buy such type of POP idols, this is totally wrong and loss to real Clay idol artists, government and related department should be take care of it and set up check post at border area and avoid supply of POP idols to the city, He said.
The border district of Belagavi connected with Maharashtra and Goa state, This district have mixed culture and tradition, The Belagavi people are ready to celebrate forthcoming Ganesha festival in the city and entire district. The 11-day (This year 24-08-2017).
