ಕಳೆದ 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸರಿಯಾದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸಿದಾಗ ಹೃದಯಾಘಾತ, ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು, ಆಂಜಿಯೋಪ್ಲ್ಯಾಸ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಡಿಯಾಕ್ ಬೈಪಾಸ್ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು 50% ವರೆಗೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಲು, ಕೊಲೆಸ್ಟಾçಲ್ ಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿಡಲು ಇನ್‌ಕ್ಲಿಸಿರಾನ ಅನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಕುರಿತು ಸುಮಾರು 30 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಅಧ್ಯಯನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕರಿಸಿವೆ.
ಹೃದಯಾಘಾತ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು ಅಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕೊಲೆಸ್ಟ್ರಾಲ್ ಅನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಔಷಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಅನೇಕ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇನ್ಕ್ಲಿಸಿರಾನ್ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಟಿನ್‌ಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮುಂಬರುವ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯೊAದಿಗೆ ಇದು ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಟಿನ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಬದಲಿಸುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸಂಶೋಧಕರಾದ ಹೃದ್ರೋಗ ತಜ್ಞ ಡಾ.ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಎಂ.ಆರ್ ಅವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮವಾಗಿ ಈ ಚುಚ್ಚುಮದ್ದನ್ನು ಕೆಎಲ್‌ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಎಂ.ಆರ್ ಅವರು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದು ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಗರಿಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ 100 ಅಧಿಕ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚುಚ್ಚುಮದ್ದು ನೀಡಿದ್ದು, ಇನ್‌ಕ್ಲಿಸಿರಾನ್‌ನ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆಯ ಅನುಭವ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವಿದೆ. ಕಳೆದ 15 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸದ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಇದರ ಬೆಲೆ ಸುಮಾರು ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಬೆಲೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಪೆಟೆಂಟ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಂತರ ಕೈಗೆಟಕುವ ದರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗಲಿದೆ.
A revolutionary class drug launched in India to treat high cholesterol levels!
SIRNAs(small interfering RNAs) are a new ‘game changing class of drugs’ being developed to treat various diseases including elevated cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) and hypertension. DCGI,USFDA, CE and EMA approved Inclisiran (Brand name Sybrava) launched recently in India is the safest lipid lowering therapy presently available. With one subcutaneous injection this drug can reduce LDL cholesterol levels by 50% for 6 months.
Inclisiran is recommended as add on therapy to presently used drug class called ‘statins’ or in statin intolerant patients, as statins are the present ‘standard of care’ drugs for treating high blood cholesterol levels. Statins are in use from last 25 years and have proof of more than 30 major research studies to reduce heart attack, stroke, need for angioplasty and cardiac bypass surgery by upto 50% when used in the right doses.
It’s unfortunate that statins are under-utilised and their benefits denied to many needy patients. Many patients are unaware of the fact that cholesterol lowering drugs are prescribed with primary intention to reduce heart attack and stroke risk.
Inclisiran is more safer than statins and with additional research in the coming years it is likely replace statins, said researcher and cardiologist Dr Prasad M. R.

Presently it’s cost is Rs.1,20,000 and will be cheaper by the year 2035 once the innovator loses its patent rights.
